Product Launches are SOOO

June 1, 2007

If you’re reading this, then you found my new blog… and you probably have some idea what Konamoxt is, and maybe a little bit about how we got here.

If not, then please read this: “Welcome To Konamoxt”

As with any product launch there are bound to be a few glitches, and late last night after we “turned everything on” we got our first dose of those hitches. I guess I’m glad that we have so many friends in the UK as they were able to run into problems and tell us about them before the real flood hit in the US.

Today, being launch day, is one of those classic days of mixed up emotions… excitement over the new product finally being available, concern/caution over what problems might pop up, joy and pride in seeing peoples reactions to the product, etc.

My blog posting has been pretty sporadic the last couple weeks, now you know why… “Crunch time”… Over the next couple weeks, I’m sure we’ll still be in that crunch mode, but now I have to blog… it IS my job.

If you’ve been a reader of our blogs, then you’ve been in our thoughts as we built this product. Thanks again to all of you who’ve helped inspire us to get this far.

Training while traveling… you have to work for it!

February 20, 2007

I used to travel a lot more. Last year I traveled on business from Seattle to New York at least once a month. From June to November I spent at least 1 week a month on the road, and many months I spent more than 2 weeks on business travel. Needless to say, this wasn’t easy in general, and it was really hard considering I was preparing for my first Ironman distance triathlon.

Fortunately I had a great Executive Assistant who knew my need for a good fitness center, and I had several friends and co-workers who were also into fitness, so I could often find a running partner or someone who’d lend me a gym pass. But the fact of the matter is, that if you want to exercise while you are a heavy travel (for business or pleasure) you have to put at least another 50% effort into your travel planning and your fitness planning to find a way to make everything workout.

Week 3 Report

January 21, 2007

Week 3 - Workout Distribution for All DisciplinesWeek 3 Down, doing well sticking with my plan; although this week felt a little unstructured. Mostly this is because I was working a lot on my new business project, and so I’ve been working long hours doing market research, product development (marketing requirements, specifications, design work), coding, etc. The good news is that training and blogging are useful distractions to help me clear my head and refocus. So I feel like I’m keeping my work/life balance intact.

As for training goals: I am still sticking to my “process goals” of some form of strength training and flexibility training every day, as well as swimming at least 3 days a week. I’m still not on a rigorous outline of a swim/bike/run training program, mostly just randomly working out on various disciplines when and how I feel like it. But I’m exceeding my 10 hours a week goal. I’ve had 2 weeks of running, and feel good, although I am having a little trouble with my new orthotics for “normal use”. I need to look into this issue.

Detailed breakdown follows…
